new york, now boston is getting it. one severe thunderstorm watch across southern new jersey. locally we've got a line of showers coming through with a little bit of lightning and thunder. this is actually with a pretty good cold front. i say pretty g. it's going to keep us comfortable the next couple of days and lower the humidity levels. you can see south of town about the heaviest thing we're looking at. i want to switch it over to doppler. big storms south of ocean city and toward cape may and lewis, delaware. locally thankfully it's been a relatively quiet day so far with just a couple of showers here and there. about the heaviest thing we're looking at is across areas in southeastern prince george's county. you see it approaching baden. this is drifting toward the east at 35, 40 miles an hour. a few light sprinkles coming across route 1 toward the potomac out of fairfax county. we'll get into prince george's county and into areas in charles county as well. but this stuff is pretty light. then up north near gaithersburg, a little bit of dying shower not far from shady gro

i was a little surprised "the new york times" has a wonderful interactive tool on the web site where it has one of these clouds of how many times particular words were spoken by anybody speaking of the republican national convention, the democratic national convention in you could put in the phrase into this and see how many times the words were spoken. so the supreme court came up zero times for the republicans and zero times for the democrats. so, even though we all know that whoever wins this november is likely to be in a position to shape the future of the supreme court. nobody mentions that. not just romney and obama, but nobody has spoken at either of the conventions engines the word supreme court. so, you know, i hope this means you're interested in if and the subject to kind of think about it. it's jury, very strange. one thing i will mention is there is an incipient debate going on in the country over the life tenure for the supreme court justices. nothing is good change right away but it's a conversation that we haven't heard for quite a long time if ever. the emerging demo
